WHS Studio Tähtitorni

In March 2011 WHS moved to a new studio, located in the city center of Helsinki.

Studio Tähtitorni was designed in 1916 by architects Armas Lindgren and Bertel Liljeqvist. The space was first used as a tennis hall. Later in the 60’s the national broadcasting company YLE started to use the space as a studio where several TV programs and movies were filmed.

Studio Tähtitorni covers 550 m2 including 312 m2 studio space, which is equipped with EBU- standard acoustics. Bars and beams for rigging are in 5 meter height and three-lined curtain rails are a meter lower.

The space functions as a home base and rehearsal studio for WHS, but is also offered to other groups in the field of contemporary performing arts for rehearsal and technical testing. Workshops and laboratories led by professional contemporary circus artists are being held at the studio. The space can also be rented for film and performance productions.
